L’Abri’s project is built through a voluntary approach of partnerships with local cultural institutions, with the intention of creating programming platforms for up-and-coming artists. In this context, L’Abri focuses on creating links between venues and the Associated Artists.

Institutional partners

Support per project

L’Abri builds solid partnerships with a variety of international art organisations and artistic networks. This enables Associated Artists to carry out residencies in foreign countries. These partnerships are not unilateral, they function as exchanges: emerging foreign artists are welcomed to L’Abri just as our artists are welcomed abroad. These spaces for dialogue are a fertile meeting ground for artistic and intellectual stimulation, and also facilitate international collaborations between the Associate Artists and the foreign artists hosted at L’Abri.

Festival Nido - Rivera
Uruguay

Nido is a festival of live arts and performance. Around the artistic programme, another group of artists (mainly young artists from South America) is created: invited by Nido, they camp on site, participate in discussions, exchanges and laboratories surrounded and accompanied by an artist mentor.

Campo Abierto is a platform dedicated to stimulating creative thinking and practices from different backgrounds such as education, culture, art or technology. Campo Abierto seeks to put these thoughts and practices to work on the social problems and needs in which the space is situated, with the idea of generating innovative prototypes of life that promote social development. About ten kilometres from the city centre of Rivera and on the border of Livramento in Brazil, the ten hectares of Campo Abierto form a large wasteland of experimentation for new forms of habitat, creation and collective reflection.
Since 2018, L’Abri has been collaborating with Nido to allow several young artist associates to participate in this project.

Residency exchanges

Om Centru Coregrafic (Cluj)
Romania

The collaboration of L’Abri with OM Centru Coregraphic is an extention of the exchanges initiated in 2019 with the independant cultural scene of the city of Cluj-Napoca in Romania. In the past, L’Abri had collaborated with LaPătrat, as well as with the Fabrica de Pensule/The Paintbrush Factory, the first major collective artistic project in the Romanian cultural scene and a pertinent example of the transformation of an insdustrial building into a cultural space. After the dematerialisation of the Fabrica de Pensule in 2020, L’Abri wished to pursue its relation with the thriving local art scene, made up of a vast network of organisations which share the same interests.
Created by Oana Mureșan (choreographer and danser) in 2022, OM Studio is a choreographic center born out of the need to explore the cognitive and emotional intricacies of dance and to shed a new light on the processes and production of this type of movement in space and time, more specifically on its performative quality and its expressive dimension. The OM choregraphic center provides a thorough mechanism for exploring dance languages through an active approach (production and dance classes) and a generative approch (research and residencies).
